Why everyone keeps coming back.

Il Quagliaro is a charming Roman and pizza restaurant nestled in the heart of Rome at Largo Mola di Bari, 17. Celebrated for its authentic Roman cuisine and artisanal pizzas, this intimate eatery invites diners to experience the rich culinary traditions of the Eternal City in a warm, family-style atmosphere that feels like a genuine embrace from old Rome.

The menu at Il Quagliaro is a delightful journey through traditional flavors, skillfully crafted to satisfy both locals and travelers seeking an authentic taste of Rome. Among the standout offerings are the Pizza Capricciosa, a harmonious blend of tangy tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, earthy mushrooms, rich egg, savory prosciutto, and briny olives, all perfectly baked to a golden crust—each bite bursting with vibrant, nostalgic flavors. Vegetarians will appreciate the Pizza Vegetariana, topped with an abundance of fresh seasonal vegetables that showcase the very best of local produce. Another crowd-favorite is the sumptuous Pizza Bufalina, featuring lush mozzarella di bufala paired with ripe tomato and fragrant basil for a delicate balance of creaminess and zest.

Complementing the pizzas are thoughtfully prepared antipasti that showcase the depth of Roman culinary tradition. Savor the Fagioli con le Cotiche, beans slowly cooked in a rich tomato sauce with pork rind, delivering a warm, rustic dish full of comforting smokiness and tender textures. The Medaglioni di Melanzane offer grilled eggplant layered with fresh mozzarella and a touch of pepper, creating a velvety, smoky starter. For a simpler delight, the Bruschetta features perfectly toasted bread drizzled with robust extra virgin olive oil, highlighting the pure essence of Italian flavors. Not to be missed are the Supplì al Telefono, expertly crafted traditional rice croquettes boasting a crisp crust and a molten, cheesy interior that invites you to savor every bite.

Stepping into Il Quagliaro feels like entering a warm Roman home, where the atmosphere is unpretentious yet full of character. The ambiance is intimate and welcoming, enhanced by attentive and knowledgeable staff who guide you through the menu with genuine enthusiasm and care. Guests frequently mention the family-like warmth and sincerity that make every meal memorable, turning a simple dinner into a heartfelt experience.

Patrons like Mi Mi praise the restaurant for its exceptional hospitality and unforgettable food, while others like Gabriel N highlight the authenticity of the environment and the superb quality of traditional dishes such as the Fagioli con le Cotiche. Floriana M’s appreciation for homemade supplì, gluten-free options, and classic Roman specialties such as carbonara reflects Il Quagliaro’s commitment to both tradition and inclusiveness. Meanwhile, food enthusiasts like Francesco Pansarella find a rare and cherished homage to Rome’s past culinary heritage, and Lucía García sums it up perfectly by calling it “the best pasta I've ever had.”

For anyone seeking a genuine Roman dining experience filled with robust flavors, evocative dishes, and heartfelt hospitality, Il Quagliaro stands out as a must-visit gem. It’s a place where memories are made over shared plates, every ingredient tells a story, and the soul of Rome is tasted with every bite.

Spent my first night in Rome here after a year and the food was absolutely brilliant. The ambience was gorgeous - homey and authentic, the food and drinks definitely reflected that. Wine came straight from the barrel, Fagioli con le cotiche (beans with pork rind) is officially my new favourite antipasti, and they make it so well with just the perfect amount of roasted taste. We had an Amatriciana and Cacio e pepe and I can safely say that my year-long cravings have been fully satisfied. Their espresso came with the yummiest biscuits as well, fantastic service all round. Great value for money, not sure why there's complaints as their portions were more than generous. We'll save space for dessert next time. They deserve a much higher rating, and I'll be recommending Il Quagliaro to my friends and family. Grazie mille :))

Titolare cortese e simpatico.

If you are looking for Roman traditional food and want to try the raw tastes of Rome, here is the place. I eat here every time that I am in Rome, even if the restaurant is located in one of the most infamous parts of the city. Carbonara is my favorite dish here, all the pastas are wonderful as well as the appetizers.
